Amanda Wellner, of Carter Ave. Frame Shop, won second place in the custom framed Art on Paper category in Larson-Juhls’s third annual Design Star: Framing edition competition. Larson Juhl is the leading picture framing industry supplier, and is a Berkshire-Hathaway company.
Hundreds of custom frame designs were submitted to the framing competition. The awards were presented at the world’s largest picture framing industry event, West Coast Art & Frame, in Las Vegas. Custom framers from around the world sent in photographs of their creative framing projects in seven categories: Objects, Mirrors, Textiles, Documents, Art on Canvas, Art on Paper, and Photography. The panel of judges, comprised of industry experts, selected first, second, and third place winners in each category.
Amanda Wellner won second place in the custom framed Art on Paper category for beautifully framing a Rajka Kupesic serigraph entitled “Woman with Fan.” Her design featured an ornate antique silver frame with fabric mats and double fillets.
Tim Smith, owner of Carter Ave. Frame Shop, congratulated Wellner, “I have been fortunate to have such talented designers over the last thirty years, and Amanda is a particularly gifted designer. Framing design is our focus, and Amanda and Pam (Johnson) are doing a great job helping our customers get great framing designs.” Amanda’s winning design can be seen at Carter Ave. Frame Shop.
